Thanks to xjoex, peterweb and huwyngr for your assistance. On my always been a Win10 computer, the Windows un-install removed everything but the Norton Security entry, but CCleaner was able to remove it, so that computer is "clean".Īt this point, as long as I don't get any pop-ups from Norton, I'll be a happy camper.įor anyone else reading this, the VERY FIRST thing I did before doing any of this was to make a System Image Backup so that I could restore to a good known condition in case I really messed up anything. I'm starting to believe this is a Win10->Win11 upgrade side effect on this particular computer. No change, the entry is still in the CCleaner list when you select Tools. It found a bunch of stuff to delete in folders that Explorer did not find and some registry entries of which I deleted all of them. I tried your suggestion of Revo Uninstaller ( I did the test version of Pro) so that I did not have to install Norton again. Since I cannot get out and around without aid.To answer your last question, there is nothing in the Downloads folder. Do you have any more suggestions, I am desperate to get this working it is my only real contact with the outside world. NO JOY!!! I just don’t know what to do, I cannot afford a new computer, and since I can’t drive and rely on my son, I am not sure when I will be going to Bend to address this issue. (I am a bit lost without my computer right now.) I live nearly 100 miles from my Geek Squad, I move to the high desert in Central Oregon with my son and so I have quite a ways to go to get this addressed, and thought I would try to fix it myself. This is quit difficult for me because I am vision impaired and use text readers and text speak to work on my computer. Tried this Norton down load but my WebRoot flagged in as a Trojen and won’t allow me to proceed. I tried your Task Manager suggestions and that didn’t work. I search the web for an answer and found out that this happens with Windows 10 and so I removed the file once I knew it was there, however the issue continued occationally until this morning when things went to H- ) Since then my computer was acting oddly, but this morning it just went crazy and began to flash and it wouldn’t allow me to access my apts or personal files. I removed it once I realized my error, but by then it had been several days, and my apts were flashing occasionally at this point, I see double up close, and can only make out light and shad so I could see the icons flash, disappear and come back but at first I didn’t know what the issue was. (I didn’t catch that the Norton file was there and needed to be check off if I didn’t want to download it. I downloaded a FREE Norton file that was attached to a Windows file about a week ago. I have been trying to correct this issue for a about 12 hours.
